Abstract
Troponin I is regarded as the most cardiac-specific of biochemical markers for the diagnosis of myocardial injury. We have evaluated the analytical performances of the STAT Troponin I reagent on Architect i2000SR (Abbott®) and the reference values (10% CV concentration and 99th percentile) for a specific population of Macon Hospital. The results were compared to those obtained with the AIA Pack cTnI2G (Tosoh Bioscience®). Clinical analysis with the cardiologists was performed for troponin values lower than 0.1 ng/ml. This study showed high analytical performances in term of repeatability, reproducibility and sensitivity. After clinical analysis of troponin results between 0.04 and 0.1 ng/ml, we have decided with the cardiologists to keep the cut-off value at 0.1 ng/ml. However, the cardiologists have been informed of the high sensitivity of the reagent and we have defined an algorithm for interpretation of troponin I results according to the clinical context.
