Abstract
Optics has already proved its meaningful application in information processing and computation, where the parallelism of light is exploited to achieve the desired result. In this communication a novel concept of all-optical clocked flip-flop based on phase encoding process is proposed. The processing part of the unit consists of only phase sifters, mirrors (M) and two EDFA. The optical feedback is supported by use of beam splitters and mirrors. Since no switch is used in the main processing part of the unit a real time operational speed is expected.
