In this paper, using numerical methods, first, the transmittance characteristic of single mode OmniGuide fibers – the hollow dielectric waveguides in which light is confined by a large index-contrast omnidirectional dielectric mirror is analyzed. We found that the minimum periodic number of omnidirectional mirror of high transmission OmniGuide fibers with small bend radius is three layers. Then, the distortion characteristics of the elliptical and cylindrical OmniGuide fibers are analyzed, and we found that maintaining transverse mode field distribution in single mode OmniGuide fiber is almost changeless when fiber is obviously bent or distorted. Therefore, the hollow dielectric waveguide fibers will be useful as large mode area fiber for advanced high-power amplifiers and lasers.
