Abstract

In this paper, we propose a novel non-iterative approach based on the two-dimensional discrete wavelet transform (DWT) for generating binary holograms in in-line holography. This method is able to alleviate the degradation appearance on the reconstructed image caused by the direct sign-thresholding. Numerical experiments of this method are given in this paper. It is shown that high-quality images of the binary hologram can be reconstructed by using the proposed method. Additionally, the reconstructed images also contain less amount of noise contamination.
