Abstract
⺠Prostate epithelium exists as a hierarchical pathway of cells. ⺠Evidence suggests the cell-of-origin in human prostate cancer is a basal stem cell. ⺠The basal stem cell does not express androgen receptor. ⺠Future cancer therapies must be targeted towards the cancer stem cell population.
