Abstract
⺠We determined whether AMPK affects Wnt/β catenin signaling in osteoblast-like Saos-2 cells. ⺠AICAR and metformin decreased Wnt3a-induced TCF-dependent transcriptional activity. ⺠Metformin suppressed LiCl-induced Wnt transactivation. ⺠Metformin elevated the phosphorylation of β-catenin leading to β-catenin degradation. ⺠In Saos-2 cells, AMPK attenuates Wnt/β catenin signaling by reducing β-catenin protein levels.
