Abstract
Energy levels, direct energy band gap, refractive index and high-frequency dielectric constant of zinc-blende InAs spherical quantum dots and their size dependence have been investigated. The calculations are based on a pseudopotential approach. As a result of the quantum confinement effect, the predicted direct energy band gap is found to be significantly augmented relative to the bulk value, whereas the obtained high-frequency dielectric constant is shown to be significantly reduced.
