Abstract
In this paper, an optical fiber fault location method based on OCDMA coding is presented, which may accurately locate branch fault at local side and enlarge dynamic range through coding gain while ensuring relatively small discrimination. According to the experiment, dynamic range of the method may support PON optical fiber fault detection with branching ratio of 1:128 and transmission distance of 20 km, and the discrimination is about 10 cm. Peak value of the received signal is improved from 40 mV to 2.1 V, which successfully verifies the feasibility of the design scheme.
