Abstract
Laparoscopic ovariectomy is a surgical technique that becomes appreciated by veterinary surgeons and demanded by owners. This review offers an update about recent progress reported for laparoscopic ovariectomy. This relies on a decreased number of instrumental cannulas (or port access) and the use of tissular fusion devices to complete hemostasis. This allows a decreased surgical time, pain and postoperative complications. Animals' weight and body condition score increase the surgical time and technical difficulty. The surgical technique has been adjusted to do routine ovariohysterectomy or in case of pyometra.
