Abstract
⺠Patients with primary immune deficiency (PID) may acquire Sabin like polioviruses when the oral polio vaccine is used+. ⺠In patients with PID these viruses may be excreted for a longer period, and acquire mutations leading to neurovirulence. ⺠Patients with X linked agammaglobulinemia (XLA) and common variable immune deficiency (CVID) may excrete the virus for longer periods, posing a threat to the community. ⺠Patients with XLA and CVID should be regularly screened for poliovirus excretion to manage this risk.
