Abstract
The propagation of solitary waves in nematic liquid crystals is limited by the losses of the optical beam. In this work we use a broad and uniform plane wave as pump beam to provide energy to the soliton in lossy nematic liquid crystals by two-wave mixing. We also present the evolution equation of one-dimensional spatial solitons in this lossy media. Moreover, the evolution equation is numerically simulated. Our findings suggest that this method may be used in long distance beam transmission and beam shaping.
