Abstract

Multitarget compounding technique is a vital one in hardware-in-the-loop simulation system. In this study, we constructed ray tracing model and presented systematical data of design, simulation and characterization for multitarget compounding system based on dimpled mirror. Simulation results of beamwidth and targets compounding were sound agreed with theoretical results. Beamwidth dependence properties on main parameters were achieved and diameter of small mirror on the dimpled mirror had highest sensitivity to beamwidth. We modified beam broadening theory by concerning sphere aberration. Targets compounding results were not perfect any more when abaxial distance was over 400 mm. Proposed model and the properties investigated are important for the design, optimization and fabrication of multitarget compounding system based on dimpled mirror.
