The physical characteristic according to stretched and thermally treated polypropylene (PP) surgical suture fibers was studied interferometrically. Two-beam Pluta polarizing interference microscope connected to a mechanical device for study the draw ratios due to optical and thermally changes, at different temperatures (19–40 °C). The resulting data of birefringence were utilized to calculate the average orientation functions, the form birefringence and the constants birefringence–strain relation and also the distribution of segments, bulk shear, Young's modulus, cohesive energy density and square of solubility parameter. The two types of polarization, the induced polarizability and the permanent dipole moment, were carried out for PP suture fibers. The present study demonstrates PP suture fibers structure using opto thermo-mechanical methods.
