A Fourier transform spectrometer without mechanical moving body was reported in this work. The proposed spectrometer is based on the dispersion of the Verdet constant in the Faraday effect. The plane of vibrating direction of the linearly polarized wave is rotated by propagation of light through a medium in a magnetic field parallel to the direction of propagation. The rotation angle is a function of the wavelength. An ac-magnetic field generated by a solenoid controls the sweep of the vibrating direction with respect to the transmission direction of a polarizer put behind a dielectric plate. The spectrum can be obtained by Fourier transform of the intensity of the transmitted light. The proposed spectrometer has high mechanical reliability and repetition accuracy, which can be used to perform high-speed spectral measurements in a wide wavelength range.
