Abstract

The knowledge about exact location of the crystalline lens or artificial intraocular implant (IOL) inside the eyeball is necessary in order to enable the numerical simulation of the image forming process in the eye. Quality of the retinal image decides to great extent about the overall vision quality. There are several methods for experimental determination of the lens or IOL location in the eyeball, however, the one based on the analysis of Purkinje reflections seems to be the simplest and most convenient. The algorithm developed by Tabernero et al. allows to easily determine the relative displacement and tilt the lens on the basis of the analysis of these images. Possible errors in the measurement of coordinates of particular Purkinje reflections can cause errors in the estimation of the relative displacement or tilting the lens or IOL inside the eyeball. The present work concerns the analysis of these errors and their influence on the accuracy of this algorithm.
