Abstract
A crystalline organic nonlinear optical l-arginine maleate dihydrate has been grown by solution growth technique. Single crystal X-ray diffraction study confirms that the grown crystal belongs to triclinic system having non-centrosymmetric space group P1. The optical studies were carried out to estimate the transmission range, band gap, extinction coefficient, refractive index and reflectance of the grown crystal. The fundamental solid state parameters were determined from dielectric studies to analyze the polarizability and second harmonic generation efficiency of the grown crystal. Activation energy of the grown crystal was found to be 0.218 eV from ac conductivity measurements.
