Abstract

Micro lens array with micro lenses arranged in a new configuration on a curved substrate is proposed in this paper. The micro lenses of the proposed MLA are arranged non-uniformly by degree with which followed a law of arithmetic sequence. Detail design method is introduced and a design example is given. The corresponding model is constructed and compared with that of the curved micro lens array with micro lenses arranged uniformly. Paraxial ray-tracing method is used to observe the focal surface of the two different models. It is concluded that the micro lens array with more compact construct proposed in this paper has a plane focal surface so that it is compatible to the commercial available image sensor. In addition, it has a higher filled factor and more suitable for the fabrication of bionic compound eye.
