Abstract

We ourselves constructed a portable optical tomography apparatus using near infrared (NIR) laser diode of 904 nm peak spectrum as a light source operating at power 2 mW. For testing, the samples (phantoms) of a cylinder glass and a triangle foam were used. From the scanning process, we successfully carried out the 2D image reconstruction and later it was improved using a filtering process using the back projection method. The images obtained of the phantom and the background were clearly distinguished. The apparatus has advantages of low cost and simplicity of operation and hence has potential use in many lines, e.g. medicine, agriculture.
