Abstract
Gas pressure changes in the cylinder determine the mechanical loading, vibration, noise, and, in conjunction with the temperature of the gas, the heat transfer rate, heat stress and environmental performance of diesel. The development of gas pressure depends on a number of factors, and the key one is the intensity of the heat generation in the combustion process. Regular interconnection between the intensity of pressure development and characteristics of fuel burning in the cylinder of a diesel engine are established by a theoretical analysis of these processes.
