Abstract
This paper aims to discuss machining cutting with zinc base aluminum alloys for aircraft applications (UNS A97075) through research and development activities, as well as experiments based on the turning process with specific machining conditions -cutting speed, feed rate and cutting depth. In addition, some macro scale studies were performed on the tool life as well as experimental measuring using stereoscopic optical microscopy (SOM) techniques on the chip. The relation between influence cutting parameters on the chip geometry during machining can be used to determine the optimal cutting conditions for other processes.
