Abstract
In vitro protocol for screening neuroprotective agents against a dopaminergic toxin. Cellular viability. ROS production and mitochondrial membrane potential were evaluated in slices obtained from rat cortex, hippocampus and striatum incubated with 6-OHDA (100 pM) for l h. Atorvastatin-induced neuroprotection was investigated by co-treating slices with Atorvastatin and 6-OHDA. MK-801, an NMDA receptor antagonist was also tested against in vitro 6-OHDA-induced toxicity.
