Abstract
An optimal network of state educational institutions has been developed in Saint-Petersburg. It has been streamlined over the last years, and now it can be represented as unique public instructional environment which makes it possible for children of any educational institution to elicit their creative potential.The article deals with a brief analysis related to forecast of general education development in Saint-Petersburg. Modernization of educational institutions and school facilities is considered in the context of the architectural typology and city planning, and energy efficiency.
