Abstract
Scapholunate instability is a frequent but complex condition which requires good understanding of carpal biomechanics. Recent progress has shown that the wrist musculature plays an essential role, some muscles having a protective action on the scapholunate ligament while others promote instability. The interest of proprioception and neuromuscular rehabilitation has been well established for several years, especially in respect of the shoulder, knee and ankle, but only a few more recent studies have validated application in the wrist. The present article aims to study the impact of the muscular elements involved in scapholunate stability and to describe a proprioceptive rehabilitation protocol based on this analysis.
