Technological Aspects of Reconstruction of Historical Buildings

Within the reconstruction of historical buildings, the requirement of thermal performances meets building aesthetics and its historical features. The paper focuses on technological aspects of reconstruction of historical buildings; especially how to preserve typical features of the historical building. Our focus is on the possible ways of modernisation of railway station in Žilina. The goal is to preserve architectural features and artistic value of the building while improving its thermal performance. Environmental assessment of the building modernisation is calculated in comparative studies. They compare existing building envelope structures insulated with different types of insulating materials: starting with commercially used insulators ending up with environmentally friendly materials.
