Abstract
Hyperbaric treatment for carbon monoxide intoxication with compromised cardiac function should be considered even when carboxyhaemoglobin levels have returned to normal. This is due to mitochondrial impairment caused by carbon monoxide intoxication that eventually can lead to significant cardiac deterioration.
