Abstract
Cognitive impairment is a common and often quite disabling symptom of multiple sclerosis affecting individuals at any time during the disease trajectory. The following paper is a guide for the nurse practitioner in the assessment and management of cognitive loss in multiple sclerosis. Early recognition and marshaling appropriate members of the health care team with the aim of tailored treatment is essential to preserving function, maintaining life tasks, and optimizing quality of life for those living with multiple sclerosis and cognitive challenges.
