Abstract
Based on United States Census Bureau projections, the number of older adults age > 70 years is expected to increase to 53.7 million in 2030. The prevalence of Alzheimer disease in the United States is predicted to triple to 13.8 million by 2050. Clinicians must be familiar with the various jurisdictional and clinical procedures for medical review for driver licensing. An overview of the American Geriatric Society and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration clinician's guide for in-office driving assessment and the American Academy of Neurology practice guidelines for evaluating older drivers with early dementia is provided.
