Abstract
Correlations between the well-being of nursing professionals and their ability to meaningfully practice have been researched and discussed in literature.1 Often, the inability to maintain wellness and contribute meaningfully is attributed to unhealthy work environments. This is defined, measured, and exhibited as burnout, moral distress, compassion fatigue, or physical injury.1 The American Nurses' Association (ANA), The American Association of Critical Care Nurses (AACN), and the American Organization of Nurse Executives (AONE) have heralded the importance of the nurse leader's role in assuring healthy work environments.2, 3, 4 These organizations' work highlighted the need for development of culture inclusive of care and concern for nursing professionals. Nurse leaders expect these same sincere cultural demonstrations from staff to patients and their families.
