Abstract
Establishing a water balance for a water distribution network with the majority of available tools requires manual data collection and processing. This is why water balances in most cases are determined for a whole network and only at long intervals. Unmetered components are often neglected or based on rough estimates. This paper presents an approach for automated establishing zonal water balances for variable balancing periods. The application of the approach is demonstrated for the case of Pforzheim, Germany.
