Abstract

Tallinn (Estonia) water network has been recently updated (calibrated pipe roughness values, demand/leakage calibration) with commercially available tools. In current study two different approaches (scenarios) are used for model recalibration, using: (a) commercially available tools (genetic algorithm) and (b) custom research tools (Levenberg-Marquardt). Calibration studies are carried out with real network data (medium sized pressure zone: 2000 pipe model). The whole calibration process is also described from engineering perspective, including the knowledge that is needed to conduct the calibration itself (data input, validation, calibration parameter ranges, etc.). It was found that the calibration results are comparable to some extent.
