Abstract
The aim of this work is to present a low cost schematic design (conceptual) for an ergonomic optical pointing device that would be comparable to a digital pen with equivalent dpi (dots per inch) handling capacity. The device will be based on the concepts of a normal commercially available optical mouse, but, in a pen-like casing. The device would enable handwriting and will be applicable in cases of direct human-computer interface in the fields of graphics, image-manipulation, digital note-taking and computer-display based classrooms.
