The encroachment in multilevel inverter topologies and the device ratings had made the energy conversion in power system easy and highly efficient. It had resulted in improved power quality and reduction of harmonics. In this paper, a single source topology of multilevel inverter is proposed. The proposed topology is resembled to a potentiometer connected across a single H bridge of the multilevel topology. The topology imitates a predefined pure sine wave so that the stepped output waveform has a similar profile. It uses reduced number of switching devices as compared with the classical topologies for a specific level output. The output waveform results in reduction of THD content and improves efficiency. This proposed topology is further modified to overcome the problems of variable input overvoltage situations by incorporating an error correction block in the circuit. The result of the proposed topology is simulated and verified by Matlab software.
