Abstract
Continuum damage mechanics has been used to characterize creep damage occurring in pressurized components o erating under creep conditions. Following a review of the concepts of damage and its measurement, analysis has been presented to show how damage can be estimated using continuum damage mechanics concepts and how the remaining life can be estimated in terms of the current creep rate of a component. It is shown how such damage and remaining life can be estimated using online measurements of local creep rate.
