Abstract
Pelvic floor ultrasonography is not as widespread as MRI for the study of pelvic floor disorders. Nevertheless, ultrasonography has several important advantages. For example, it is easily available, it permits a comprehensive study of pelvic organ prolapse and offers a unique view on synthetic meshes. The purpose of this review is to offer an overview on technical aspects and specificity of perineal ultrasound. Then we will focus on its interest in the most frequent clinical cases and specifically in the difficult case of pelvic organ prolapse recurrence.
