Abstract
MR imaging is the best second line technique to characterize adnexal masses including for patients referred in a context of acute or subacute pelvic pain. Combining morphological features and signal intensity criteria, MR imaging is helpful to diagnose adnexal torsion, pelvic inflammatory disease or luteal cyst rupture when ultrasonography is complex to interpretate. Outside the context of pelvic emergency, MR imaging is able to better determine the origin of a pelvic mass, estimate the risk of malignancy and suggest pathological hypothesis.
