Abstract
Atypical lobular hyperplasia and lobular carcinoma in situ form a lesional spectrum characterized by in situ proliferation of non-cohesive cells, encompassed by the term lobular neoplasia. Lobular neoplasia does not present specific radiological features and its diagnosis on core biopsy requires a radiopathological correlation. Lobular neoplasia is considered both as a risk factor for further development of invasive carcinoma and as a non-obligate precursor of invasive carcinoma. Its management remains controversial. Surgical excision is often indicated, but surgical abstention can be proposed in case of isolated atypical lobular hyperplasia with radiopathologic concordance. In all cases, the patients are subject to a specific follow-up.
