Abstract
Because of their pathological characteristics, ILC have specific features on conventional Imaging. ILC frequently present as subtle images and are more frequently not visualized on mammography than other types of breast cancers. Complementary breast ultrasound (US) is therefore of great interest in case of dense breasts, doubtful image on mammogram or abnormal clinical examination with normal mammogram. For an optimal use of US, it is crucial that breast radiologists are well aware of the possible features of ILC. Recent techniques as elastography and tomosynthesis, can improve the performance of US and mammography for the diagnosis of ILC. Since the false negative rate is higher than for other types of breast cancers, needle type and caliber, and number of samples should be carefully chosen for optimal results of biopsies of ILC. Elastography and tomosynthesis are developing tools that can help improve guidance of biopsies of ILC.
