Abstract
Extreme precipitation indices were defined and analyzed in order to estimate the impacts of global climate change on the water source area of the middle route of South-North Water Transfer Project. Researches on the extreme precipitation and the intensity of extreme precipitation events show a general increasing trend while no obvious trend found in the frequency of extreme precipitation events. The Mann-Kendall test results indicate all of the three indices’ time series suffered an abrupt change in the late 20th century and after that, the extreme precipitation becomes more frequent with a larger intensity.
