Abstract

The Indian farmer has been for a long time suffering from low efficiency of farming operation rarely exceeding 1% of the incident solar energy. Various efforts made by scientists and governments have not been able to raise it above 1%. Suddenly a way has been found to increase his efficiency from 1% to 15% economically. This has been brought about by increasing the efficiency of solar power generation from 1% in the 1980s to more than 15% now and the cost of the raw material i.e. Silicon (Photovoltaic grade) has fallen from $487 to $ 34 per KG. This paper describes how the farmer at last will be able to convert at least 15% incidental solar energy at an affordable cost and earn money for that.
