Abstract

This work addresses the spectral e_ciency problem in LTE-Advanced systems that require multiple spectrum resources using a Round Robin scheduler that takes the channel quality information as an input. In order to asses the performance of this scheduling method, a simulation scenario consisting of a wireless cellular communication system operating in the 2.3 GHz and 3.4 GHz frequency bands is used. This scenario considers that a minimum channel quality, as reported by the Channel Quality Indicator (CQI), is available at the cell edge in order to guarantee a minimum Quality of Service (QoS). By means of numeric simulation the user blocking probability and the e_ective throughput are evaluated considering the cases of contiguous and non-contiguous resource allocation.
