Abstract
This paper proposes analytical model results of a cantilever based piezoelectric energy harvesting device (PEHD) with a large tip mass whose centre of gravity is not coincident with its point of attachment to the beam. This model includes both the piezoelectric backward coupling and the dimensions of a large tip mass in the governing equations. This work aims to enable a wide range of PEHD researchers, not only experts but also PEHD designers and analysts to have a model that can be used to evaluate the performance of the designed energy harvesting devices for self- power sensors/sensor networks in structural health monitoring applications.
