Abstract
It is very important to minimize the amount of data transmission in wireless sensor networks so that the average sensor lifetime and the overall bandwidth utilization can be improved. In this paper, we propose an improved isoline based data aggregation scheme which takes advantage of spatial and temporal data correlation among sensors to monitor continuously changed environment conditions. A contour map which consists of isolines delimit monitored regions can be generated using the proposed scheme. Meanwhile, the communication overhead and aggregation accuracy are well balanced.
