Abstract
This study aimed to investigate the possibility of heat treated diatomite to be used as an adsorbent for Cr (VI) removal. The optimal conditions for adsorption were determined by varying pH, contact time and amount of calcined diatomite at room temperature. The results showed that the efficiency of Cr (VI) adsorption was 68.0% at 1 ppm of Cr (VI) using 1.0 gram of calcinated diatomite with shaking rate 200 rpm for 30 min at pH 6. The adsorption isotherm of Cr (VI) can be described by Langmuir isotherm.
