Abstract
We report the case of an elderly institutionalized woman with multiple comorbidity, hospitalized for leucorrhoea and poor general health status secondary to a torpid urinary infection. Ultrasound revealed a uterine collection compatible with pyometra. The patient was treated with periodic vaginal drainage and prolonged intensive antibiotic therapy. Outcome was favourable and the extension study was negative for malignancy. We provide an update of the management of pyometra.
