Abstract
In this numerical study we use the Lattice Boltzmann Method to investigate the effects of periodic and randomly rough surfaces on the turbulent transport of momentum and heat. A two-dimensional MPI code has been developed and validated against many test cases. We examine in some detail Rayleigh-Benárd convection in the presence of rough walls and study the effects of the wavelength and amplitude of the roughness distribution on the flow.
