Abstract
Recent studies have suggested that up to 40% of complications from prosthetic reconstruction are secondary to infection. However, this novel, antimicrobial-bonded graft performs superiorly to current prosthetic conduits for vascular reconstruction in the setting of infection. Translation of these data into clinical practice may reduce the rate of complications associated with prosthetic reconstruction and the secondary procedures required to manage these complications. Furthermore, this technique is not limited to 6-mm grafts and could be applied to other settings, such as hemodialysis access grafts or aortic reconstruction.
