Abstract
The identification of specific auto-antibodies in autoimmune encephalitis was a major advance achieved in neurology the last ten years. Most of these antibodies, which react with cell-surface antigens, are probably responsible for the disorder. This review proposes a practical approach to the question. The clinical manifestations occurring with each antibody are analyzed and the principles of diagnosis and therapeutic strategy are discussed.
