Abstract
This study was conducted to demonstrate the effectiveness and efficiency of acupuncture Tan Method of improving gait and quality of life in patients with Multiple Sclerosis. This study was developed in partnership with the Portuguese Society Multiple Sclerosis, delegation of Coimbra. Two (2) patients wereselected according to the following inclusion criteria: patients with Multiple Sclerosis diagnosis of relapsing-remitting type and patients diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis five (5) or more years ago and who are currently not following any medical, physiatric or Chinese Medicine treatment, with direct involvement in the gait of each patient. The evaluation of the effectiveness of acupuncture took place in the facilities of the Portuguese Society of Multiple Sclerosis, delegation of Coimbra. Two scales were used: the scales named Timed 25-FootWalk and The Multiple Sclerosis Impact Scale (MSIS-29). After Tan's acupuncture session, the value of improvement of time of gait and score of pain was 9.884% and 80% for patient one and 19,704% and 60% for patient two. Regarding the quality of life, the improvement stood at 25.71% for patient one and 36% for patient two.
