Abstract
Posterolateral rim fracture of lateral tibial condyle is relatively uncommon with only scarce data available in literature. Usually posterolateral corner injury involves more soft tissue and ligamentous damage than bony counterpart. The mechanism of injury is flexion-compression in external rotated knee. These injuries require congruent reduction of articular fragments along with appropriate management of associated ligamentous and meniscal injuries to achieve optimal functional outcome. Here, we present an interesting case of a young adult with comminuted fracture of posterolateral rim fracture with avulsion of lateral meniscus into the joint cavity following a two wheeler accident. He was managed with open reduction and internal fixation through a posterolateral approach using Herbert screws followed by arthroscopic adhesiolysis. Patient had an excellent outcome at 01 year follow-up with full ROM of knee and no functional deficits. We intend to provide a unique insight in management of such injuries to optimize the functional outcome.
