Abstract
Promoting expression of emotional experience of diabetes contribute to build therapeutic alliance between patients and health caregivers. A way of narrative expression consists to propose to type 1 diabetic patients to write a letter to their own diabetes. This “written workshop” is helpful to find an adjusted distance between emotions and disease. The opportunity to share the letter with a group of others diabetic patients and caregivers may provide a positive emotional experience. We report our experience of this narrative approach in a patient education program proposed to type 1 diabetic patients during a 5-day hospitalisation.
